In fact, most of the time speed and balance are far more important than raw strength. Still, you should be strong when you get into the ring. You'll need strength and some muscle to withstand punishment, to move your opponent around, and to prevent getting moved in ways you don't want to be moved. And it's a good bet you'll need to be stronger than you are right now, especially if you're not doing any strength training.
