Открывая выпущенный в 1945 году в Военном Департаменте США словарь русской разговорной лексики, я думал, что столкнусь с чем-то в чрезвычайно упрощённым - наподобие современных отечественных псевдоучебников, предлагающих выучить иностранный язык за несколько часов через усвоение ограниченного числа расхожих фраз, записанных в русской транскрипции… Однако ничего похожего на «Preved, medved» в предлагаемом словаре я не обнаружил. Наоборот, книга показалась мне совершенно адекватной в плане передачи языковых соответствий, а также весьма удачной (и практичной) по подбору лексикона. Перевод каждого слова проиллюстрирован примерами употребления в различных ситуациях повседневной жизни, поэтому словарь одновременно выполняет функции разговорника. В целом книга мне понравилась, и я решил предложить её пользователям сайта, надеясь, что она окажется полезной при изучении английского языка.
